York Road Reconstruction - Phase 1

The York Road Phase 1 Reconstruction Contract Administration and Inspection project was a pivotal infrastructure initiative completed in 2021 within the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Ontario. Commissioned by the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, the project involved design servies, contract document development, providing comprehensive assistance during the tendering process—including issuing addenda, reviewing tender submissions, and making award recommendations. Additionally, it encompassed full-time contract administration, inspection services, and engineering assistance for the reconstruction of the western 4.6 kilometers of York Road.

.This required close coordination with contractors during the construction phase with prompt resolution of any issues that arose. The reconstruction addressed critical aspects such as drainage improvements, and alignment corrections to enhance road safety and longevity. Structural engineering expertise was also applied to oversee the rehabilitation of and existing single span bridge within this section, ensuring it met current safety and performance standards.

The project emphasized adherence to environmental regulations and cultural sensitivities pertinent to the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. By maintaining open communication with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, the project team ensured that the reconstruction process was respectful of the local community's values and needs. The successful completion of Phase 1 not only improved transportation efficiency and safety but also laid a solid foundation for subsequent phases of the York Road reconstruction, contributing to the long-term development and well-being of the region.
